Artist Statement
I use direct social exchanges: saunas and parties, games played, coffees shared, as platforms for artistic discourse. Through object making and social sculpture I am exploring how physical space can both facilitate and frustrate communication and also influence ritual behavior. I am interested in cultural and environmental adaptations, and how these effect our movements through and relationship to space.

Through time both domestically and abroad I have developed a practice that is sensitive to and draws from my surroundings. I have also come to think of my relationship to that of the viewer as a more collaborative experience. I am interested in how social habits and traditions deviate between cultures and use my work as a way to connect with the people and to transcend my position as an outsider.

My goal is to encourage people to see alternative possibilities in their immediate environment through creating unique architectural experiences, augmenting social interactions, and transforming the function of everyday objects. I invite the audience to question the elements that influence our physical and emotional relationship to objects and space, and the effect different contexts have on social encounters.
